Writer's Statement

We are drawn to stories about women who refuse to disappear. Sisters of the Immaculate Green began as a comedy, but underneath the mischief sits something deeply human. We were inspired by the idea of women, particularly older women, who have been quietly holding communities together for decades, suddenly being told they are no longer viable, relevant or financially sustainable. That felt both absurd and painfully familiar. Humour has always been our way into difficult conversations. By placing a group of nuns in a morally complicated, entrepreneurial predicament, we are able to explore themes of survival, faith, rebellion and reinvention without losing warmth. The comedy disarms. The heart lands. We are especially interested in women who break expectations. These sisters are not caricatures. They are layered, flawed, brave and funny. Their actions may be unconventional, but their motivation is simple: protect their home and each other. As storytellers, we love blending irreverence with sincerity. We believe laughter opens audiences up to empathy. Beneath the chaos, Sisters of the Immaculate Green is about community, chosen family and what people are capable of when pushed to the margins. This is a story about resilience disguised as mischief.
