From the Judges, on Red River Cowboy (2026)
From the Judges, on Red River Cowboy
A western built with real care for its world, this short holds every frame deliberately, with lighting and colour that reveal exactly what each scene needs. Costume and production design build the period vividly, and the performances are grounded and believable throughout. Polished, memorable work.
From the Judges, on PODCASTERS (2024)
From the Judges, on PODCASTERS
A comedy thriller set in the world of podcasting and siblings, this short drew admiration for writing that is imaginative and witty and for pacing that keeps its blend of laughs and tension taut. Lighting and camera framing build an unsettling, mysterious mood, and the sound work carries that same charge. The panel found the performances pitched exactly right for the tone, and the distinctly Australian humour struck them as genuinely funny.
