Synopsis
Power. It is everywhere. It shapes our experience of the world and the way we learn to love within it. 'Capitalista' presents a brief yet potent essay on the manner in which power moves menacingly through society, and the responsibility of young men to make it right.
This segment originally featured in the feature documentary 'I'm Not Gay' (2021) - also available on Film Freeway - which explores power and masculinity in modern day Australia through the eyes of a gay man. However, it was decided to release this and another segment - 'Por Una Mascara' - separately given their cultural and entertainment value.
Director's Statement
This dance is one of my favourite moments in 'I'm Not Gay'. I look forward to the provocative conversation and wonder that this segment is sure to evoke in your audience, whether gay or straight.

Director's Biography
Nathan Short Director
I began developing 'I'm Not Gay' at the end of 2018 after several years working as a videographer, choreographer, and musician. What started as a research project about gay men soon evolved into an adventure of self enquiry. Over the course of three years, I wrote, composed, choreographed, shot, edited, produced, and directed this proudly diverse Australian film. I was inspired by the revelation that power moves through everything we do, from our most intimate relationships, to politics on a global scale. This dance speaks briefly to that revelation.
