The new 2027 page gathers the season: the key dates from entries opening on Sunday 1 November 2026, which lane suits your film, the 22 awards and how entering works. The festival returns to Brisbane in October 2027, and the exact dates and venue are announced once they are confirmed.
The main menu now opens on the 2027 Festival: the season page, the 2027 awards, entering on FilmFreeway and how entries work. The 2026 festival, its results and its pages are under Results.
The home page now opens on two choices side by side: enter your film for 2027, or join AFIN as a member, with the 2026 trailer beside them and the countdown to entries opening below.
Creator members save 20% and Industry members 30% on their 2027 entry fees, and gifted nominee and winner memberships are included. Your code is on your Membership page, to use from Sunday 1 November 2026.
The 2027 awards page lists all 22 awards. Choose your kind of film under What can my film win? and it shows the awards your film can be up for, with the full eligibility grid below.
The festival clock on the home page now counts the days until entries for 2027 open on FilmFreeway, on Sunday 1 November 2026.
Open your account menu at the top of any page and Help is there, with the guides to claiming your page, your membership and the rest of the site.
The AFIN Directory now shows each member the way the festival shows its nominees: their portrait, their honours, one film with its poster, and where they are based. Send a request from the card or from their page, and you see whether your request was sent, answered or connected. Once you are connected, you write to each other in Messages on your account.
Every film page now takes a rating out of five and comments from members. You cannot rate a film you made or are credited on, and the filmmakers and screenwriters behind a film can reply to what you say. Member ratings are separate from the festival judging and never change an award.
Claim your page by Sunday 8 November 2026 and the Founding Member badge is yours for as long as you are a member. It shows on your account, and on your public page and the AFIN Directory when you choose to be listed.
The visitor guide now covers the Gold Coast: how to get there from the city by train, tram or car, the beaches, the hinterland and the theme parks, so a trip for the festival can take in more than Brisbane.
If the link in our letter has stopped working, the page it opens now offers a fresh one: type the address our letter came to and a new link is sent there. Everything that was waiting for you is still waiting.
The archive is built from what each film told us at submission, so a role can be missing without anybody being at fault. Name the film and what you did, and a person here checks it against the film before it reaches the site.
Moving previews across the site were not starting on iPhone at all. They do now. Nothing about your page or your films changed, and there is nothing you need to do.
The tiers on the membership page were listing far less than they hold: the top tier showed one benefit when it carries six, because inherited benefits were collapsed into a single line. Each one now lists everything it includes and says how many are still being built.
There was nowhere to put a photograph of yourself, so people were putting headshots in their gallery alongside film stills. Your portrait is now its own thing, and it sits at the top of your page.
