A Note from the Filmmakers

In almost every country, the presence of a minority is a kind of inevitability denied in the middle of the hegemony of the majority group. The film started with our concerns towards minority groups in Indonesia, which always end up losing or succumbing to the aggressive treatment of the majority group. In an area, there are bodies who cannot be buried because they have different religion with the people around the grave. Not only that, but there are also many other intolerance things experienced by minority communities in Indonesia. The problem becomes sensitive when relating the events of death in the minority's group when they are forced to follow the procedure that the majority wants so there won't be further conflict. Then this became a widespread question for me towards other minority groups. When religion and government determine that the only recognizable gender is male and female, but in reality instinctively and culturally, gender is not only grouped that easily. Ironically, the gender of a person at birth must be the benchmark of how he grew up and died. When they no longer have control over their body, who deserves on how to bury the body? The living? or the silent-body? This film is a portrait of reality, capturing the steps of a minority group forced to swallow the bitter pill because not only the problem is considered unspoken, but they are also forced to conform to what has become commonplace for the majority group.
