Biography

Zachary Kerschberg ​is an award-winning narrative and documentary filmmaker from California. He has lived and worked in South America, Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. His films have screened at the Cannes Film Festival, SXSW, Raindance and the New York Film Festival, among others. He produced the short film ​A CIAMBRA,​which won the Sony Discovery Prize at the 53rd Semaine de la Critique in Cannes, and wrote, directed and produced ​SEEING THE FULL SOUNDING​which won the Best Short American Documentary award at the 2015 American Documentary Film Festival. His films have screened nationally on PBS and cable networks. Zach has worked with leading actors such as Chloé Sevigny, Logan Marshall-Green, James Franco, Marina Abramovic, Olek Krupa, Marylouise Burke, Khaled Abol Naga, and Sara Abi Kanaan. Zach is a recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship to the UAE, where he taught screenwriting and filmmaking at the Dubai Men’s College. He is also the recipient of a National Board of Review Grant, a Janowsky Award, a Wasserman Award, and an Agosto Foundation Residency. He is an alum of the Berlinale Talent Campus and was an SF Filmhouse resident in 2018. He holds an honors B.A. from UC Berkeley in Romance Languages and Literatures, and MFAs in Dramatic Writing and Film Production, from New York University’s TISCH School of the Arts.
