Synopsis
Barry has a unique problem. He came up with a truly original idea. And sharing it has consequences...
Director's Statement
People, especially people in the film industry, keep talking about being original. How everyone needs to be original and how original their ideas are. It got me thinking. What is an original idea? How do you define it? What would happen if someone actually had an original idea? This (O.I.) is my take on it.
What makes this one special
- A first-time filmmaker
From the Judges
From the Judges
A deceptively simple premise unfolds with real invention here, and the panel found the craft holding it up just as assured: cinematography, sound, locations, costume, colour grade and music all pulling in the same direction. The concept is executed with confidence and a sharp streak of humour, carried by performances that landed with them straight away. It moves with a sureness that leaves you turning it over long after, the kind of original thinking that gets filmmakers talking.
