Synopsis
Mrs Nicholls is a widow trapped in a cycle of misery until one day a stranger’s need breaks through her bubble. She helps without question, and one of the people she helps decides to help her back.

A quiet story of grief and of the small kindnesses that can break a cycle of misery, this screenplay works through the ways one woman's odd manner is met by those around her. The panel found it cleanly built, with a set-up that pays off and a rhythm that carries the story at just the right speed. Simple in its shape and warmly crafted, it reads as a lovely tale.
Director's Biography
Rick Limentani has an Engineering Masters from Cambridge University and a film-making degree from EICAR (Paris), learning to speak both French (medium-level) and Spanish (fluent) along the way. He is an experienced screenwriter and playwright, as well as having been a paid script doctor, copywriter, screenwriting teacher and copy editor. He has created plays for children, teens and adults that have been produced in Europe and Asia, reaching more than 80,000 audience members so far. His short story, “The not-so-human soul”, was published in an anthology by AudioArcadia in 2018. He has also worked on large corporate communications documents, including as coordinator of the London 2012 Olympic Bid document, and as a contributor to the London Climate Change Action Plan. Since winning the Barnet Scriptwriting Award (2003) in his early twenties, he has won several awards for his writing, most notably Best Script for “Dig Deeper” at the Newport International Film Festival (2012) and the IMDb Script to Screen Award (2014) for “Put Down”. Last year his microbudget thriller “Shutters Down” was semifinalist of the ScreenCraft Screenwriting Fellowship, Final Draft’s Big Break Award, and Scriptapalooza.
