Synopsis
Abá and His Band is an adventure that follows a young prince who is conflicted between his dreams and responsibilities. After breaking up with his father, he goes to the Music Festival and discovers his uncle's plans to end the diversity of Pomar.
Director's Statement
Aba and his band is a 3D animation mixed with 2D. The objective was to find its own visual identity and escape the more common language of 3D films, where everything looks very similar to reality, creating scenes that look like moving illustrations.

A buoyant adventure about chasing the dream of making music and rescuing a festival from ruin, this short lands with warmth and play. Its look drew genuine admiration, along with the layers of detail the animators built into the world. There is wit in the dialogue too, and an inventive willingness to fold serious political themes into a story pitched at young audiences.
Director's Biography
Humberto Avelar Director
Director of the three seasons of the animated series “Yellow Woodpecker Ranch”, broadcasted by Cartoon Network Brazil and Latin America, Tooncast, Boomerang and Globo channels. He is the director of the series “Ripilica World”, shown by the Discovery Kids channel and co-director of the series “Pilar's Diary” for the Nat Geo Kids channel. He has worked as a professor of comics and animation at UFRJ and received a special mention from UNICEF for the series “I Swear I Saw It”.
