Synopsis
Retired martial arts world champion, Alex Faulkner, has settled into a simple life, when the disappearance of two of his students leads to an unthinkable discovery close to home. Just when all hope of finding the children is lost, he locates the imprisoned girls and un-surfaces an international child trafficking operation, which draws him back into the fight of his life against those behind it.
What makes this one special
From the Judges
From the Judges
This one lands with the physical charge of a real action picture, and it arrives with a lead presence the panel felt could carry the genre. The fight choreography and stunt work, brought to a peak in the third act, drew genuine admiration, and the foley gives every impact its weight. There was warmth too for the production design, where the Australian flag is used with unabashed patriotic feeling.
Director's Biography
Bren Foster Director
Bren Foster is a world renowned actor, a graduate of drama studies in Australia, New York and Los Angeles and a master acting coach. An international action and martial arts sensation, he is also a nine-time world champion martial artist in six different martial art disciplines, holding black belts in Taekwondo, Hapkido and Hwarang-do and Brazilian jiu jitsu. His deep understanding of the acting discipline, coupled with his unique martial arts skills makes him a ‘unicorn’ in the film industry, the best in the business - there are few people who can combine these talents in the world of film and television. His versatility as an actor means that he can deliver standalone, powerful, dramatic narrative performances and unite them with highly complicated action storylines. He has worked extensively in both film and television across the world for the past decade. In 2022 Foster wrote, directed, produced and starred in Life After Fighting, a martial arts drama feature also starring Cassie Howarth, Luke Ford and Annabelle Stephenson. The film showcases highly technical martial arts sequences designed by Foster, which stand up to any Hollywood action blockbuster.
