Director's Statement

With The Rocket, I wanted to return to the roots of cinema, to tell a story through images, rhythm, and emotion rather than words. The idea was to strip everything down to its essence: no over-explanation, no dialogue guiding what the audience should feel. Instead, I wanted to give the viewer space, to observe, to interpret, and to find their own truth in what unfolds. Visually, I was inspired by two contrasting yet complementary approaches: the intimate, handheld closeness of The Bear, and the contemplative stillness of Wim Wenders’ Perfect Days. One gives breath to the emotion; the other gives it time. Together, they shaped the visual language of the film, a balance between immediacy and reflection. The script was built for that kind of storytelling. Every gesture, every glance, every pause had meaning. And with an incredible cast and crew, the process became something rare, a pure collaboration, where everyone contributed not just their craft, but their sensitivity. The Rocket is a small film, but for me, it carries a big ambition: to remind us that cinema began with silence, and that sometimes, silence still speaks the loudest.
