Biography

Hong Kong-born Rayner Wang spent his early years in the UK. During his teens, he developed a keen interest in filmmaking, particularly in creative storytelling. After completing school, he attended the University of the Arts in London. He earned an Associate’s degree in film and a Bachelor’s degree in animation. Wang began working briefly for Ridley Scott Associates as a runner, later accepting a chance to work at Imagi Animation Studios in Hong Kong. There, he was involved in conceptualizing and storyboarding web comics, editing the animated TV series ‘Zentrix’, and writing treatments for upcoming films and TV projects. Wang has been working on his own film productions, and dividing his time internationally. He enjoys traveling and gathering ideas and concepts for new projects. To this day he remains enthusiastic in watching films, new and old, to gain inspiration. Furthermore, Wang seeks far-reaching influence from books, comics, cartoons, anime, plays, TV shows as well as video games. A long time admirer of the field, Wang maintains respect for both traditional 2D hand-drawn animation and contemporary 3D computer animation. Wang holds highest regards for various artists such as Stanley Kubrick, Ang Lee, Peter Jackson, Don Bluth, Richard Williams, Ray Harryhausen, Hayao Miyazaki and Steven Spielberg, crediting them as the driving force behind his passion for filmmaking.
