From the Judges, on SATOMI (2024)

From the Judges, on SATOMI

It landed as something original and fresh: hand-drawn anime characters living inside a live-action world, blended so cleanly that the animated presences carry as much feeling as the performers beside them. The panel found the pacing kept them held throughout, and warm words went to the colourful cinematography, the thoughtful blocking, and an original score that brings real weight to a story about hope and facing your fears. They came away wishing they could follow this world to feature length.

Curated, anonymised highlights drawn from the judges' notes.
