From the Judges, on Hell (2026)
From the Judges, on Hell
Dust, silence and decay give this short a barren world rendered with real confidence, and the panel found the cinematography and visual design powerful throughout. Animation craft and puppetry carry a dark story in an inventive register, with sound design and soundtrack building an ominous atmosphere and the voice performances grounding the surreal in something human. Bold, deliberate direction lets the world-building unfold on its own terms, leaving them engaged and wanting more.
From the Judges, on AS EASY AS CLOSING YOUR EYES (2024)
From the Judges, on AS EASY AS CLOSING YOUR EYES
A premise built around grief and a drug of reminiscence drew real warmth from the panel, and it stayed with them well after the final frame. They responded to the colour work and to visual effects used with restraint, arriving quietly and only where the story asks for them. Framing and shot choices hold the characters close, opening a very personal space and keeping us inside it.
