Synopsis

Hospital Show is a workplace comedy (10 x 5-7 min. eps) about the loveable, deluded, "wounded" actors who play TVs most respected doctors. In the centre of this petri-dish of dysfunction is Charlie (Sara Canning), a med-school dropout who could have been a real doctor, but instead, now plays one on TV. The whole series can be viewed through this play list link:

A Note from the Filmmakers

This is a love letter to actors. I've been an actor all my life, and I wanted to make something that humanized the whole process at the same time as made fun of it. HOSPITAL SHOW is a workplace comedy that can be both grounded and at times broad, about these loveable, "wounded" people who play healers, when they themselves need the healing.

From the Judges

From the Judges

Slick, clean filming and confident direction carry this one from the first frame, with editing and performances tuned to the same polished pitch. The scenario is an amusing, genuinely funny premise that lands its comedy and leaves you wanting the next episode. It struck the panel as exactly what a web series should do: entertain, look sharp, and make you want to keep watching.

Curated, anonymised highlights drawn from the judges' notes.

Director's Biography

Adam Greydon Reid began his career as a kid actor on the cult hit "You Can't Do That On Television!", then co-wrote thirty of its episodes at sixteen. He won the "Norman Jewison Filmmakers Award" for his graduating short at Ryerson University and from there, has straddled both sides of the camera - as a director creating documentaries, short films and commercials (helming last year's Air Canada campaign starring Sandra Oh) and as an actor appearing in such shows as "Lost In Space", "Izombie", "Project Blue Book" and "Van Helsing".
