Characterisation carries this screenplay, with figures who each hold their own distinct individuality and a back-and-forth between protagonist and antagonist that humanises both within their own narratives. The world building is detailed and clearly well researched, catching the texture of Australian gold rush life, and themes of love, money, loss, hope and revenge run right through it. It reads as an Australian Western with the reach to belong on the big screen.
