Synopsis

A broke woman selling home-brew poison must stop a hitman from using her product to kill her sister’s primary school teacher - before the murder and her secret collide.

Director's Statement

Jack Vernon, filmmaker portrait provided to AFIN.

With Elastoplastic, I hoped to craft something both deeply human and "out-of-this-world" all in one. The trick with this film was capturing that raw emotion, creating a world and characters that feel grounded in our own reality, and pushing that into a bold genre space whilst maintaining a sense of realism. I like to make films that can't be defined by a single genre label. Elastoplastic, like all my films, is an amalgamation of styles and tastes that work together to create something fresh.

The panel found much to admire in its sharp editing and immersive sound design, with cinematography that gives every scene real texture. Solid, committed work from the lead and the wider ensemble rounds out a technically accomplished film.
