A Note from the Filmmakers

Set half way between the spiritual realm and our own, this story shows that you don't know what you have lost, until it is gone. With the desperation of the recent natural disasters occurring in Australia, it was imperative to show off the beauty of the natural landscape. While a girl searches by dancing in desperation across the arid land, she encounters a higher force in which she calls for the rain to put an end to the tough times. Being an Indigenous filmmaker, it was important to tie this in with an Indigenous Cinematographer to visually capture the landscape and that spiritual connection to country. 2020 for Australia has been tough. Facing flash flooding and immense wild fires, it was important to show off the reds, browns and earthy colour palette. These colours are not only what Australia has to offer but also the connection the girl has to the land as she dances calling for the rain on her journey. While this story is important to raise awareness of the difficulties our nation is facing together. The lack of rain has made it hard for all Australians, but after the fires and the onset of floods these events have brought and washed away 'hopes' and 'dreams' for many people. You don't know what you have lost, in solidarity we come together.
