Synopsis
After a heart transplant a young woman finds herself connecting with a homeless man through classical music. Throughout a series of dramatic performances and emotional events the two worlds begin to merge as one.

Beat gives audiences an insight to numerous social issues while keeping them engaged with multiple story lines that are seamlessly intertwined. Through-out the story thought provoking dialogue allows a deeper look into the needs and wants of each character as they discover this on their own. Both Ellie & Kevin work through the self-conflict of mental health by exploring deep philosophical questions on life & love. Their inner-voice becomes louder and more challenging as the story builds to its dramatic end. This encourages viewers to participate on this journey with the characters as they find their own self purpose & worth along the way. While simultaneously completing the story the final moments presents us with the truth, exposing the harsh conditions of the psychosis that both Ellie & Kevin share. Multiple filmmaking techniques have been embedded into the film along with an original score and12 original piano pieces. This independent film "Beat" is a piece of art through the medium of film. "I want to inspire and entertain as many people around the world as I can. Stories are apart of us and they need to be told. I will simply tell stories until the day I die".

It struck the panel as a genuinely touching piece of work, carried by a beautiful musical score and musical elements that give the story its gravitas. There was real admiration for the leading performance, which drew them in and left them wanting to see more from her. The themes it explores, and the direction that shapes them, made this one a rewarding watch.
Director's Biography
Jye David Currie was born on September 21, 1993 in Newcastle, Australia. He was raised in the city of Newcastle by his parents David Currie & Kelly Currie who showed him what hard-work, passion & love looked like. Currie earned a Bachelor Degree in Communication majoring in Media Production in 2019, followed by an Honours Degree in Communication majoring in Film in 2020. Before this time however, Currie spent many years traveling around his home country before venturing off around the world where he has now visited more than 50 countries. Along this journey Currie found his purpose in life by growing a deep passion and love for storytelling, further exploring this through the art of filmmaking. Currie is now set on a mission inspired to share his art with the world in hopes to impact, influence and entertain others through his films.
