Synopsis
Sang Eun, who’s been fighting cancer secretly behind his family’s back, goes to his grandmother’s funeral. There he sees his family members focusing more on how much money they’ll be inherited instead of remembering his grandmother. That makes him imagine what his funeral would be like. He meets his old friend Eunkyu’s uncle at the funeral and hears that Eunkyu is also getting treated for his pancreatic cancer at the same hospital and that he’s in stage 4. Sang Eun pays a visit to Eunkyu after the funeral and he immediately gets the feeling that his friend doesn’t have much time left. As he walks out of the room, he’s met with Eunkyu’s mother who’s in total despair and he sees that death could mean desperation beyond sadness to someone.
Director's Statement
We all face death at one point in our lives whether be it via accident, illness, or aging. However, the way everyone treats it is all different. People around them take it differently as well. I wanted to show how a family selfishly take their grandmother’s death on their own terms through Sang Eun, the main character’s eyes. The viewers who will be laughing at the comedy of the situation in the movie will get to see how different stances people take of Eunkyu and his mother who don’t have much life left battling cancer later in the movie. This will make viewers think about how they should prepare their death which might take place rather sooner than later.
