Synopsis
The Fisherman and the Fish folk tale comes to life, in a bitter-sweet animation. A lonely fisherman has a magical goldfish, who granted him three wishes. He already used two wishes to help others in need. Now he is facing a grave decision; after accidentally killing a stranger, he has to choose whether to keep his last wish and stay a murderer. Or to use it to save a stranger's life, but in doing so he will lose the only thing that truly matters, his friend.
Director's Statement
One Last Wish is a bitter-sweet drama that explores loneliness, longing for connection, lack of communication, and lack of empathy in society, leading to alienation and division. When I first read Etgar Keret’s story, What, Of This Goldfish Would You Wish? It inspired me to think of: what a person is willing to do for another, for the environment, for his loved ones, what sacrifice a person is willing to bear even at the cost of loneliness. I strive to connect people and people to their environment to heal the alienation for a healthy and sustainable society and environment. With a growing number of refugees and immigrants around the world forced to leave their homes, hoping for an opportunity to survive in a new country, society, and culture, the treatment toward foreigners and their integration into society are more relevant than ever. With a bit of surrealism and sarcasm, One Last Wish portrays how a fast lane lifestyle and lack of communication and tolerance cause the suppression and trampling of a person standing right in front of us. And how it makes us forget a simple truth, in which in every person exists a whole world of grace and fundamental longing for connection and companionship.

Director's Biography
Galia Osmo Director
Galia Osmo is a producer, director, and animator of short animations and live-action commercials. And a puppet and set designer based in Israel. Her professional path began at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem with a Bachelor's in industrial design. Galia later completed a post-graduate in Film and Television Studies at Tel Aviv University. Short films Galia made during her studies were screened at festivals in Israel and internationally and on TV channels. Galia is busy these days directing and animating independent films.
